Duck on the Menu at Taste of the NFL

NEW ORLEANS -- (January 31, 2013) As many gather this weekend for Super Bowl parties, guests at the Taste of the NFL in New Orleans will dine on dishes prepared by renowned chefs from across the country.

Billed as "The Party with a Purpose," the 2013 Taste of the NFL brings top chefs, the NFL’s greatest and major food and beverage companies together to raise money in support of food banks throughout the United States. The annual strolling food and wine event features a chef from each NFL city serving their signature dish alongside a current or alumni NFL player.

This year’s event features three chefs showcasing Maple Leaf Farms duck. Chef Kevin Rathbun, representing the Atlanta Falcons, will prepare Maple Leaf Farms Duck Schnitzel with Rye Spaetzle and Pickled Red Cabbage. Representing the Dallas Cowboys, Chef Kent Rathbun will treat guests to Blackened Maple Leaf Farms Duck Breast with Cajun Red Bean Demi Glace' and Jalapeño Blue Corn Fritters. Chef Marty Blitz, representing the Tampa Buccaneers, will share his creation of Allepo Style Maple Leaf Farms Duck Tasso with Peppadew and Piquillo Pepper Jam and a Farro, Barley and Radish Salad.

The Taste of the NFL, annually held on the eve of the Super Bowl, is one of the most coveted tickets of Super Bowl week. It is a unique way for fans to experience exceptional cuisine, meet NFL players and coaches, and support the fight against hunger.
