Maple Leaf Farms Researcher Honored with Industry Award

Maple Leaf Farms Researcher wins awardDr. Xixi Chen, China live production technical manager for Indiana-based Maple Leaf Farms, was recently honored with the best oral presentation award at the Sixth World Waterfowl Conference in Taipei, Taiwan. At the conference, which is an annual event organized by the World’s Poultry Science Association, Chen presented a scientific paper on the impact of protein and metabolizable energy in duck diets. Her research presentation was recognized as one of the best by her peers at the conference.

“Dr. Chen is a highly respected poultry researcher,” said Maple Leaf Farms Co-President John Tucker. “We are proud that she garnered this award at the World Waterfowl Conference and has also been chosen to participate in a Young Leaders program at the International Production and Processing Expo in Atlanta in January.”

Since its inception, Maple Leaf Farms has sent representatives to the World Waterfowl Conference, which brings leading industry specialists together to exchange information and scientific advancements in the field of waterfowl production. Focus areas for the conference include waterfowl breeding, nutrition, food safety and disease prevention, as well as environmental sustainability.

“Maintaining strong ties within the global waterfowl industry is important as we continue to market our Maple Leaf Farms INDUX duck production system to international customers,” said Tucker. “Dr. Chen is an important member of our INDUX team, providing critical poultry science knowledge and research experience to global customers of our breeding stock and management system.”
