Master Chef Gives New Twist to Julia Child Classic Duck Recipe
August 2009

(August 2009) – Vanity Fair Daily (VF Daily) recently challenged top chefs around the country, in homage to Julia Child, to create their own version of favorite Child’s classic recipes.
One chef inspired by Julia Child’s cookbooks was Alfred Portale of the Gotham restaurant in New York City. Reportedly duck is among Julia Child’s favorite foods and Portale once created an entire meal using duck alongside Child on her PBS show In Julia’s Kitchen with Master Chefs.
For the online magazine, Portale updated Child’s "Roasted Duck Casserole in Turnips" recipe from her cookbook The Art of French Cooking Volume One (Knopf) by grilling the duck and adding peaches.
The new recipe “Duck with Roasted Peaches and Baby Turnips” by Alfred Portale, can be seen on the VF Daily website in the article by Jessica Flint.
