Maple Leaf Farms Donates More Than 30 Tons of Poultry to Indiana Hunger-Relief Charities Throughout 2009
December 2009

MILFORD, IN (December 15, 2009) - Throughout 2009, Maple Leaf Farms donated more than 30 tons of poultry products to Indiana food banks and pantries in an effort to help these hunger-relief organizations serve a growing need in the state.

“Our family-owned company recognizes that many charities are being stretched thin due to the struggling economy,” said Co-President John Tucker. “As a food company, we have worked harder than ever this year to do what we can to help out hunger-relief charities in our area.”

In addition to donating food to the Food Bank of Northern Indiana, which serves pantries, kitchens and shelters in Elkhart, Kosciusko, LaPorte, Marshall, St. Joseph and Starke counties, Maple Leaf Farms also made direct contributions to local food pantries. The pantries included Our Father’s House, Combined Community Services, Syracuse Food Pantry, North Webster Food Pantry, Helping Hands, Victory Rock Food Pantry and Salvation Army.

“As a company headquartered in Northern Indiana, we are keenly aware of the challenges facing many families in our area,” said Co-President Scott Tucker. “A number of charities that we work with have taught us that food is often one of the greatest areas of need during times like this, so we are pleased that our donations can make a significant impact.”

Most recently, Maple Leaf Farms donated approximately 13,000 pounds of poultry products to Gleaners Food Bank of Indiana and another 13,000 pounds to pantries throughout Kosciusko County.
