Maple Leaf Farms Donates Over Seven Tons of Food
December 2008
Milford, IN -- In 2008, Maple Leaf Farms donated nearly 8 tons of duck, chicken and other food products to charities and food banks as part of giving back to the community.
Each year the company regularly donates food products to Our Father’s House, Combined Community Services (www.combinedcommunityservices.org), Syracuse Food Pantry, and the North Webster Food Pantry. All of these operate in Kosciusko County where Maple Leaf Farms is headquartered.
Maple Leaf Farms also donates food to the Food Bank of North Indiana (www.feedindiana.org), which distributes food to soup kitchens, food banks and other charitable organizations throughout northern Indiana.
"We have a long-standing relationship with these organizations, which meet such an important need in our community," said Terry Tucker, CEO. "Although we cannot support every deserving organization, we do what we can to help our local food pantries feed the needy in our community."
This year Maple Leaf Farms donated approximately 1,900 pounds of duck and chicken products to Combined Community Services’ Food-A-Thon and the Wawasee Kiwanis’ holiday food baskets.
In addition to local donations, the company joins other members of the Indiana State Poultry Association (ISPA) in making donations to food banks on behalf of the Indiana Governor and Lieutenant Governor each holiday season. Food is also donated nationally to charity fund raising events including Second Harvest, Share Our Strength, and Make a Wish Foundation. |
