Duck on Iron Chef's Menu for Charity Event
August 2009
FT. WAYNE, IN (August 7, 2009) - Chef Cat Cora, one of the stars of the Food Network's “Iron Chef” show, will prepare a special meal in Fort Wayne to benefit the "Blessings in a Backpack" program. She will be using Maple Leaf Farms boneless duck breasts, which Maple Leaf Farms donated to the event, to create her main dish.
The charity dinner event is at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, August 11 at Sycamore Hills Country Club, 11836 Covington Road, Ft. Wayne. Tickets for the event are $750 each for the black-tie, seven-course meal.
The “Blessings” program provides backpacks full of food for kids in three Fort Wayne-area schools to take home over the weekend. The national nutritional program, which gives needy kids backpacks of nonperishable food each week, began in 2005, the same year Chef Cora became the first female Iron Chef on the Food Network show “Iron Chef America.”
