Enter the 2013 Discover DuckTM Recipe Contest for Professional Chefs & Culinary Students
Contest entry is closed and entries are now in the hands of judges.
This year we are looking for original "small plate" or savory appetizer recipes -- enticing shareable dishes that start OR are part of a larger dining experience that use duck in a unique and non-traditional way.
Entrants submited up to three (3) original recipes that showcase Maple Leaf Farms duck for a chance to win one of these great prizes in one of two categories.
Professional Chef Prizes:
► $5,000 Grand Prize
► $3,000 Second Place
► $1,500 Third Place
► Two $500 Finalist Prizes
To enter the Chef Category, you must be a professional chef, sous chef or lead line cook in a restaurant, a caterer, or in a non-commercial foodservice establishment. |
Student Prizes:
► $2,500 Grand Prize
► $1,500 Second Place ► Three $500 Finalist Prizes

To enter the Student Category, you must be enrolled in a professional culinary program/school and submit proof of current enrollment along with your contest entry. |

Recipes will be judged using these criteria:
► Recipe Accuracy/Methodology (40%) – Recipes must have a clear, concise list of ingredients
 in order of use, with proper preparation sequence
► Creativity/Originality (40%) – Recipes will be judged for use of duck in creative or non-traditional ways
► Innovation (20%) – Recipes will be judged for best utilization of duck product(s)
Entrants submited up to 3 recipes separately. Recipes were submitted for a small plate or savory appetizer serving 2-4 people.
