Fundamental Principles & Rights at Work Policy
Maple Leaf Farms is committed to the fundamental principles and rights at work identified by the International Labour Organization in its Declaration on Fundamental Principles and Rights at Work. This policy applies to all employees and others performing work for, or on behalf of, the Company.
Maple Leaf Farms will respect and support the following: freedom of association and the right to collective bargaining; elimination of forced or compulsory labor; abolition of child labor; elimination of discrimination in employment; and provision of a safe and healthy working environment. To that end, Maple Leaf Farms is committed to the following:
Employees may form, join, or refrain from joining, labor organizations and may engage in lawful concerted activity. Maple Leaf Farms will not interfere with those rights or discriminate against employees for exercising them. Maple Leaf Farms will bargain in good faith with duly recognized labor organizations representing its employees.
Employment with the Company is voluntary. Maple Leaf Farms does not use or permit forced, bonded, or involuntary labor. Maple Leaf Farms does not use coercion, threats, or improper restrictions to compel work or prevent employees from leaving employment.
Maple Leaf Farms complies with all applicable child labor laws. It does not employ individuals below the legal working age or permit minors to perform prohibited hazardous work.
Maple Leaf Farms makes employment decisions without regard to any status protected by applicable law. Discrimination and harassment are prohibited.
Maple Leaf Farms will provide a workplace that complies with all applicable safety and health requirements. Employees are expected to follow safety rules and report unsafe conditions. Reports may be made without fear of retaliation.
Maple Leaf Farms expects its suppliers and contractors to operate in a manner consistent with this policy, and will cease to do business with those known to be in violations of the principles set forth herein.
Employees may report concerns under this policy to _______________________. Maple Leaf Farms will review those concerns and take appropriate action. Retaliation for good-faith reports is prohibited.
Employees who violate this policy will be subject to discipline, up to and including termination of employment.
