Beer Can Duck

Beer, garlic, and soy sauce! An interesting combination that delivers a tasty whole duck on the grill! Add salt, pepper, and Montreal seasoning to the outside for the perfect crunchy texture on the skin.

Ingredients

  • ½ Cup Honey
  • Fresh Cracked Pepper
  • 1 Whole Duck,Defrosted
  • 2-3 tbsp. Kosher Salt
  • 2 tbsp. Montreal Seasoning
  • 1 Can of Beer
  • 1 Garlic Clove,Smashed
  • 1 tsp. Soy Sauce

Direction

  • Set up grill for indirect grilling and preheat to medium low.
  • Bring large pot of water to boil on stove.
  • Remove defrosted duck from bag. Remove giblets and neck from cavity. Pat dry.
  • Once water is boiling, add honey and stir. Place duck in boiling honey water and blanch for 3 to 5 minutes and then remove.
  • Sprinkle top of duck with salt, Montreal seasoning, and pepper.
  • Open beer can and pour out about ¼. Place garlic and soy sauce in can with beer.
  • Place beer can in beer butt stand. Lower duck onto stand and carefully place on grill.
  • Cover grill and cook duck for approximately 1½ hours at 375°F or until internal temperature reaches 180°F as measured at thigh joint.
  • Transfer duck to a cutting board and let rest for 15 minutes. Remove beer can from stand and discard.
  • Carve duck and serve.
