Duck Fat Caramel Apple Danish

Experience a new take on the traditional apple Danish. Delicate pastry surrounds a generous filling of caramelized apples and velvety duck fat caramel. You can create this delicious dish in about 30 minutes.

Ingredients

  • 2 tbsp. Duck Fat
  • 1 Sheet Puff Pastry
  • 2 Granny Smith Apples, Thinly Sliced
  • 3 tbsp. Brown Sugar
  • 1 tsp. Cinnamon
  • ¼ tsp. Salt
  • 4 oz. Cream Cheese, Softened
  • 2 tbsp. Sugar
  • ½ tsp. Vanilla Extract
  • 1 Egg, Whisked with Water
  • 2 tbsp. Caramel Sauce

Direction

  • Preheat oven to 400°F.
  • Melt duck fat in a large pan on medium heat. Add the apples, brown sugar, cinnamon, and salt. Cook for 7 minutes until softened. Let cool.
  • In a bowl, mix cream cheese, sugar, and vanilla extract until smooth.
  • Roll out puff pastry and cut into 6 squares. Place squared on a parchment lined pan.
  • On each square, add a spoonful of cream cheese mixture then top with apples. Fold corners in and crimp with a fork.
  • Brush egg wash over edges. Bake in oven for 15-20 minutes until golden.
  • Drizzle caramel sauce over Danishes for garnish
